ABOUT Professor Peter R Schofield FAHMS PhD DSc
Professor Peter Schofield is Executive Director and CEO of NeuRA and Professor of Medicine at UNSW. He commenced his current role at NeuRA in 2004.
Peter’s research interests focus on understanding how signaling in the brain occurs and identifying genes that lead to neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and bipolar disorder. His research has been recognised by awards including the Gottschalk Medal by the Australian Academy of Science. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science by the University of New South Wales in 1998 and was made a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Science in 2015. He has published over 300 scientific papers.
